Re: Tinkers Rides rb30 to delco
And this is a record of how I mapped it out on my engine. It shows where the 0 degree mark on the engine lines up to, the sensor position is then labeled as 0, because the sensor is physically mounted 60 degreed from the 0 timing mark on block, then the next notch is hmm I guess 60 after TDC, the ex...

Re: Tinkers Rides rb30 to delco
the motec one is wrong degree for the delco ecm (firing order ok), sensor should be 60 (regular notch) or 70 (+1 notch) from btdc. the sensor should be really close to the trigger wheel, perhaps 1mm or less gap. Here are a couple of threads with cars running this trigger and discussion about setup a...

Re: Tinkers Rides rb30 to delco
My reference angle ended up at 65 degrees in the tune. I am not sure if its supposed to be 60 or 70. I think its on the extra notch, so the 6 notches are 60 degrees apart, and the +1 is 70 degrees. So I think its 70 deg. Keep in mind that with the engine at TDC and the timing mark at 0 degrees, your...

Re: E38 non communicative ECU
it sounds like someone is flashing something custom in there to intentionally lock people out. BDM will work, that's a hardware way to get the right OS and Param block back on there, you don't need to come through what is likely an intentionally hacked up front door. There is a second BDM port on th...

Re: VY Bench Harness Battery Amps
v6 or v8? Not that there is much difference in the answerr. In general you want closer to 13v, and a genuine 2 amps or so (it'll only use .8 but you want headroom). And not a cheap wall style plug pack which more often than not is very electrically noisy and often causes erase failures. You're best ...

Re: VF Commodore Steering Rack
can you take a short table with it at centre, then turn it half way left, take another sample, fully left, another sample, same for right? Should be enough to see what numbers are going up and down with the steering angle, and get you the value for centre, full left and full right. Some kind of peri...

Re: E38 non communicative ECU
It sounds like writing the key didn't work. Try FFFF as the key (blank segment in the chip is all FFFF). Failing that, brute force to see what's going on, and failing that, or if it is blank and VIN and other data is missing use BDM to re-write the whole flash.

Re: How do we program a Holden BCM?
Fan temp settings in PCM? Yes. PCM = Powertrain Control Module ECM = Engine Control Module ECU = Engine Control Unit TCM = Transmission Control Module VCM = Vehicle Control Module(s) BCM = Body Control Module But its somewhat vendor/manufacturer specific, and essentially ECM/ECU/PCM/VCM are intercha...

Re: E38 non communicative ECU
I'm not an E38 guy so there might be context I am not aware of here, but in general the whole flash process is bi-directional. It'd be incredibly unlikely that you have a software only fault that allows the pcm to run, but it just cant transmit, yet it'll passively sit on the bus, have the same secu...

Re: More ELM327 Fun (Read: Headaches)
The fact it was a chip, not an interface was probably a mis-step for elm as well as botching their 1.0 security and getting cloned straight away. Being a chip only there is no such a thing as a standard elm interface. Manufacturers are free to put whatever analog electronics they want around the chi...
