I was using a hex edit program at the time. I don't use any of the XDF's, I find the addresses myself.

What about the limp home function when using a converted V6 one?

When I had my VS V8 Auto, I had the exact problem and it was whenever I "AA" the checksum and ID. I could only ever bypass checksum on a VN/VP
