VX LS1 pcm vats relearn

Post by vn5000 »

Does anyone know the procedure to get an ls1 pcm in a vx commodore to learn the vats code.
The pcm is from the states out of a camaro but i have reflashed it.Car starts and runs fine with vats disabled but i would like to have vats active. With vats active i get code P1631 and car starts for about 1 sec then dies.
Apparently theres a procedure to get the pcm to learn the new vats code.

Only one I know requires linking with Tech2 by a dealer. :(

I think you can also set the pcm to learn the vats code on first power up as well, but it seems like most people just turn vats off .
Efilive has a feature called vats relearn thats sets a flag in the pcm that tells it to learn the vats code on next power up.

vats relearn is always performed on the next power up after being commanded

ls1 mailorder tuners command vats relearn after programming then shutdown and send it then it performs relearn on startup in your vehicle

you can do it with a commercial scantool or efilive can do it to

Sounds like it might be just a pid command.

Ive been researching efi live lately... it looks like vats re-learn and crank learn are two things that so far can only be done by efi live or a tech 2. does it count as a tune or can a flashscan licensed for scan only do it? Im starting to consider a scan only device, and that would be a nice value add.

I wonder if the PIM means that programming the VATS bytes is the same as non LS1 PCMs? I can link the non-LS1 PCMs pretty easily (BCM sim can do it too), its just not something I ever plan on making a public windows tool for.

no license is required to vats relearn or case relearn on efilive as this is part of the scantool not the tune tool
