We sorted out re-programming VN-VS clusters on here the other day, but haven't looked at a VT one.
I don't suppose you have any photos of the PCB that connects to the LCD board?

I know of someone that desolders the chip (type unknown to me) and reprograms them in a chip reader to alter ppk/ odo readings etc so yes it's possible as I've had it done in a VX and a VY

yeh i got a vt berlina cluster here and have pulled it apart and that's it. The VT Cluster is all one unit to, no seperate jobbie for the trip unit, so you have to pull dials and all out to get to it.

It uses a one chip job MC a NEC 780826GC-016

i know it can be programmed if the cluster reads under 100km with tech 2 and if only there was a way to make tech 2 think it has under 100km on the cluster i want to know what stops tech 2 reprogramming it

Are you sure there's no other EEPROMs on the board?
The 780826 has no internal flash, so assume it's storing the odo data somewhere else?

Déjà vu? ;)

1x NEC 780826GC-016 : MCU w/ masked ROM
1x tpic6c595 : 8 bit shift register
3x tpic6b595 : 8 bit shift register
1x pcf8576ct : I2C LCD driver

unless it's actually a μPD780828A, it's RAM is volatile and it's ROM is OTP so not sure where it would store the data.
