anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
ive still got mine here, sorry i havn't had time just atm to continue with it, but will soon.
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
ok got the pinouts, looking at the back of the cluster pin 1 being top left, pin 20 being bottom right.
Pin 6 is Ground
Pin 12 is Serial Data
Pin 19 is Power +12v IGN
Pin 20 is Power +12v
When i power the cluster up on the bench it beeps and displays the X for fault codes logged. So i sent F2,56,0A,AE to see if it would do anything and the fault indicator X went off and cluster flashed like it reset so is happy with that!

Not sure but i think someone tried that and when you hit 999,999 that's it. Could be wrong.jacomms wrote:a quick lil pulse circuit should do the job ......old school cable in the the drill trick.....just for new cars.
I made one for a mate a few years ago.....he wanted it to be set to the current (failed) speedo reading. it took about 28 hours to complete though.
I used a pic micro for the job.....some quick maths (very quick) and worked out roughly how many pulses were needed to get it right and set a "for next" loop. So my math was a little off, about 6000 km off but another 15 or 20 mins and the job was done.
I havent tried this on a VT cluster though.

No it just goes back to zero and then you can set it with tech 2. This is only needed for vx series 2 cluster from memory. All the others can be done via eeprom.
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
I was given a vt single window cluster and the onboard chips look totally different to the one in the pic would it be of any use to upload a few pics.
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
Is this the chip that stores the k's ? 93s56
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
I'd take a guess that it is, that's a microwire serial flash IC.
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
yeh the single window is different to the 3 trip window, i have both here, i think ive posted pics of the 3 trip window board before.
Re: anyone figured out how to flash vt cluster?
seems to be a common chip used in european cllusters.

I have 2 of these & both have flashable eeproms to change odo & more?
Part numbers on back where it has vdo stamp are 45311_10 TL & 4544_10 TL
& have possible dates in lower corner on back to 48 98 & 10 98?
1 is a triple LCD & other single LCD?
