Re: My non EFI Car
yeah this year the weather has bee so un-predictable its not funny.
the up side is we had a near perfect day today weather wise, unfortunately some of the cars wern't so good.
v6bucket broke his slave cylinder bracket in the first run so that was the end of his day, my brothers nitrous VN V6 only got one run due to a corrupted tune and us chasing our tails for half the day till we realised it was the tune.
Thankfully due to v6bucket being out but having qualified my brother was able to slot into his spot and got one run in the eliminators. we had no idea of what the car would run and had to pick a dial in, so we said 8.0 and it probably would have done it, the brother was flustered from getting the nod to run about 2 seconds after getting it back off the trailer and then having to roll straight into the staging lanes. Anyways he had to chase down a 10.2 i think dial in, he ran a 8.9 with a botched start and only just got beaten!!! I was hoping he'd win it so then he'd get a second eliminator run!!!
the gemini had no issues and ran consistant 8.3 and 8.4's and got pipped in the second eliminator before we ran out of time and had to get off the air field!
was a great day and well run all things considered (weather etc) i totally enjoyed myself but feel really bad i didn't pickup on the tune issue earlier so the brothers 4 hour tow and entry fees wern't so wasted but we'll try and get down to WSID before too long and get him some track time!

Re: My non EFI Car
As has already been stated, it did rain on Saturday, but we were able to kick back in the arvo, have a few drinks & do some bench racing.
It was good catch up with Holden202, helped with some questions that I have with this computer tuning stuff.
Yes I did break the clutch slave cylinder bracket. On closer inspection I found the real reason why the bracket was in 4 pieces. These pressure plate drive straps belong here. Also bent another set. The rivet that attaches the straps to the plate has sheared when I let the clutch out at 6000rpm. Now to find the $1000 for a different type clutch & a steel flywheel. On the positive side the blue Smurf went well, but I'll discuss that elsewhere.

Real race cars have 3 pedals.

Re: My non EFI Car
I went to the 2012 6 Bangers at Warwick last month. The ran consistent 8.0s all weekend with a 7.994@85 mph.
I had some traction problems, here's a couple of pics This happened on the last pass. I couldn't work out why I lost 2/10s & was a bit loose in the top end.
Rear upper trailing arm.

Re: My non EFI Car
i'm seeing a common theme with your car, i think you have too much HP or too hard of a launch for your parts
running good numbers though!!!
are you planning to go to Gunnedah 10th november ?

Re: My non EFI Car
Never too much HP.
Upon inspection the arm had been cracked for some time, I suppose it wasn't really designed by Holden be "abused" like it has been for the last 11 years.
Not sure about Gunnedah yet, the Nostalgia Drags are on the following weekend at WSID & I'm entered for that, 2 weekends away from home racing might not be very healthy(wife).
