help with pcm hammer
Re: help with pcm hammer
You have a comms issue, do you have another PCM (a known good working one) you can use to test your comms with, to ensure your wiring is good ??
If you do use it, verify your wiring and all else is working good, then we'll know if it's the PCM or the wiring.
That PCM is not responding to anything at all ... It looks soft bricked!
I'm not a modern tuner so I am not the one to talk to about tuning ... However find the closest 12587603 Os to your truck.
Posting exactly what your truck is might get you pointed to one as well, year model, engine, trans, etc.... and then there is of course the Github repo Mike pointed out.

Re: help with pcm hammer
thank you mudduck does it need oe thee same size motor and trans ..and on pcm hammer it says my pcm is locked do u no anything about that
Re: help with pcm hammer
Your PCM is not locked, it's not communicating PERIOD!
That is what this means
Unfortunately, my bet is, it is soft bricked, meaning you need to find someone close to you that can recover it for you, send it to some one that will, or replace it, or buy the equipment to do it yourself, the lowest cost method is like 65 dollars US and you have to open the PCM and solder a few wires ... it's called BDM, Background Debug Mode.
Or you can lift the chip and run it through a programmer ... BDM is cheaper and easier IMO.
See the U-Link NT device at usbjtag.com
And yes, it needs to match motor and trans ...

Re: help with pcm hammer
i can get another pcm p59 would that work
Re: help with pcm hammer
Without further information all I can do is assume that it is Soft Bricked and in need of replacement ... And to that all I can say is yes!
And the very first thing I would do after hooking it up to my bench harness is hit the Properties Button, then do a full read of it, then Save the logs and that full read someplace safe for later reference ...

Re: help with pcm hammer
Unless you are comfortable swapping segments (Universal Patcher can do it I believe, do a google search?) I would look for one that has the same engine and transmission as what you have.nickdow1983 wrote:thank you mudduck does it need oe thee same size motor and trans ..and on pcm hammer it says my pcm is locked do u no anything about that

Re: help with pcm hammer
Is this a P01 or a P59?
Do you have a good bin file that you read with pcmhammer with the operating system and the calibration you want? Do a read just so you can put this one back to current state. If that's healthy do a test write with with the file you want to put on there. If that looks healthy do a clone write.
This is assuming hardware compatibility with the pcm you have. P01 will be fine for compatibility, p59 has 2 types of flash chip and some slightly different drive by wire / IAC hardware differences. If you put an intel only bin on an amd chip it wont quite work properly, but you'll be able to flash it back to how it was. There are also some different DBW/IAC hardsare differences for P59. If you have the same service number they are 100% compatible for sure.

Re: help with pcm hammer
It's a Intel P59, It has the Intel only Os on it, it needs to be Os Swapped to 12587603, he has a 6.0 and they both have the same transmission whatever it is.
We need to know what Transmission, I might have a good file to start with, if I don't some one does.

Re: help with pcm hammer
Ahh yeah, we need car / trans details to try and find a good starting point. Might as well keep it in this thread instead of starting the other one. That just fills the forums up with unanswered threads.
