ALDL Logger
Re: ALDL Logger
hows it hook up for interface? just a few wires to the aldl connector or though a normal usb aldl adaptor? Looking good!
Re: ALDL Logger
for VR onwards there will be a special obd2 > DB9 cord that is just a straight thru cord for 12v, aldl and power. for 808 its complicated haha I cant remember but I think it hooks up to the normal rs232 logger board in the 808 except you have to mod it to provide 12v to the logger thru one of the unused pins.

Re: ALDL Logger
Yep as jayme said for VR on For an 808 you use a supplied DB9-DB9 cable to connect to a RS232 808 comms board (have to mod the comms board to get 5v on to one of the unused pins). For an 808 with USB you will need to add a SXR emulator board and operate on the one wire interface.
Trying to get a one logger suits all has been difficult, didnt really want to have different models for different vehicles. As it is now you just have to define a flag item for RS232 or one wire in the ADX and the logger uses that to select the correct hardware interface.

Re: ALDL Logger
easy as then, all vr/vs here
Re: ALDL Logger
Well, I got a present in the mail this week. VL400 posted me a prototype logger board to test. in anticipation I went out and bought the recommended case and 3 buttons for it and when it came spent a few hours with a drill bit and a file fitting it all up!
so to log my VS, I took my existing OBD > USB plug, and hacked a DB9 onto the side of it. the logger just needs 12v, gnd, and ALDL off the diag connector to function. there is no external max232 board required, the logger has TTL or one wire interface on board.
the ADX needs to have a specific format at the moment, as the code searches for the correct uniqueid for each command, and you just type a 1-12 in the description of each value in the adx you want to select for your 2 screens data on the logger iteslf.
here is a video of me usign it in my VS wagon. my mobile phone holder is a perfect size to fit the logger. excuse the crud quality... my mobile phone lol

the attached zip is the log I recorded in the video, I literally pulled the SD card, zipped the contents and posted them here without touching anything.
EDIT: alright, apparently 720P mode on my phone is significantly better and may actually be readable. ill upload a higher quality vid later on.

Re: ALDL Logger
Not totally sure yet as its not finalised yet, should be fairly reasonable if you are prepared to build it yourself.The1 wrote:looks sweet as, can't see any detail in the video but excellent stuff VL400 what does the hardware cost?
Re: ALDL Logger
ok new video. this ones 720P and a lot closer to the screen. the 3 buttons are: Select item/display, Enter, and the red one starts and stops recording.
